The Spanish enthusiam was INCREDIBLE as they celebrated on Sunday night and again all day Monday and into the night.
The sights were stunning, to see that many people gathered together in the streets, all dressed in their national team colours was impressive and very exciting.
The national players returned from the Ukraine yesterday for the traditional parade of the cup through the streets of Madrid. Their bus followed a route which started at the Zarzuela Palace and a congrats from the King (cue headlines such as Royal Madrid ...haha) and headed towards their ultimate destination of Plaza de Cibeles via calle de Princesa and Gran Vía. By the way, Inhispania - Banco de España school, which is situated at the entrance of Chueca (area of Madrid) is just 30 seconds away from this route. This all kicked off at about 8.30pm and the streets were crammed with people of all ages: from little boys in their kit to old ladies who had dressed their dogs in red and yellow to teenage girls desperate for ANY footballer’s attention (marriage material I say).
With all the blows Spain seems to have taken lately, it was somewhat heart warming to see such national pride and energy... it’s just a shame they didn’t do so well in the tennis.
