Inhispania’s Top Tips for Living & Learning Spanish in Madrid: I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike.

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike.

What’s stopping you? Here in Madrid there are dozens of ways to get hold of a bike (excluding stealing one, obviously). From free bike hire, to guided city bike tours, you’ll definitely be able to find what you’re looking for.

The free bike hire is located in Juan Carlos I Park. All you need to do is go to the office next to main car-park, where you’ll be handed a personal electronic card which is valid for a year.  The bikes are available to use for up to an hour each time and there are special bike routes so you’ll be able to make the most of the park’s beautiful surroundings.

There are also lots of bike hire centres closer to the city centre, where you’ll find the main parks and tourist attractions. 27 bikes (Calle Alcade Saínz de Baranda, 16, east side of Retiro) offers bike hire and storage and guided city bike tours can also be purchased.  Bybike (Avenida Menéndez Pelayo, 35, also east side of Retiro) offers much of the same thing.

Tomorrow morning at 11.30am Kick Off Spain are organising a group bike ride through one of Madrid’s prettiest parks, Madrid Rio. It costs 10€ for 2 hours of bike rental which is a pretty good deal, and could also be a great way to get to know some new faces!

So the next time you're stuck for something to do with an afternoon after your Spanish class at Inhispania, why not make your way to one of these bike centres and enjoy the city sun!
